Firmware Segway Ninebot 2026: Come Controllare la Versione e Tabella di Compatibilità

Segway Ninebot Firmware 2026: How to Check Your Version and Compatibility Table

Got a Segway Ninebot MAX G3, G2, F3 or ZT3 Pro and want to configure the top speed? Before you buy any code there's one thing to check: the scooter's firmware version. It's the detail that decides whether the configuration works first time or not.

In this guide you'll find where to read the firmware in the app, what the DRV and MCU labels mean, and the compatibility table updated to September 2026, based on installations confirmed by our customers.

Why firmware matters so much

The firmware is the internal software of the scooter's controller. The Velocodix code configures that very controller: if Segway changes the firmware, it also changes the way the controller accepts the configuration. That's why one version can be perfectly compatible and the next one not — and the one after that work again.

In practice: the model alone isn't enough. Two identical MAX G3 scooters can behave differently if they run different firmware.

How to check the firmware version of your Segway Ninebot

  1. Switch on the scooter and turn on Bluetooth on your smartphone.
  2. Open the Segway-Ninebot app and connect the scooter.
  3. Go into the vehicle settings and look for the section with the device information or the firmware update (the exact name can change with the app version).
  4. Note down the versions shown, in particular DRV (motor controller) and, where present, MCU.

Careful: on this screen the app may offer you an update. Don't do it: just read the version and close.

DRV and MCU: what they mean

DRV is the firmware of the controller that manages the motor, and it's the one that matters most for compatibility. MCU is the firmware of the main control board. On some models, such as the MAX G3, the combination of the two versions makes the difference: for example DRV v1.6.3 is confirmed compatible together with MCU 1.6.0.

Segway Ninebot ES2 / ES2 Pro all ❌ Not compatible Series not supported

On the ZT3 series, compatibility doesn't follow a progressive order: one version can work, the next one not, and the one after that yes again. That's why the exact version is what counts, not whether it's "newer or older than".

The code is also designed for the MAX G30 and F2. If your model or your version doesn't appear in the table, send us a screenshot of the firmware screen at info@velocodix.it before buying: we'll reply with a confirmation.

Segway 2026 updates: what you need to know

In 2026 Segway released updates that block the configuration of the scooters. The rule applies to every model:

  • Do not carry out any update from the Segway-Ninebot app, either before or after installing the code.
  • If the app offers you an update, ignore it.
  • If you have already updated, don't try random installations: write to us and we'll tell you how to proceed based on your model.

You'll find all the details in the article Segway updates and Segway Ninebot tuning: 2026 status update.

Is your firmware compatible? Here are the next steps

  1. Buy the Segway Ninebot Code – Advanced Configuration (69,99 €). The code arrives by email straight away: if you don't see it, check your spam folder.
  2. Follow the activation guide you receive with the code, using Chrome on Android, Windows or macOS, or the Bluefy app on iPhone.
  3. Stay close to the scooter and, if possible, use mobile data instead of Wi-Fi: it reduces the risk of an incomplete flash.
  4. After installation, every time you switch on, enter your key combination within 30 seconds to activate the configuration.

Not sure about compatibility? Check it for free with the Velocodix app before you buy.

Frequently asked questions

Is the code tied to my smartphone?

No. The code is permanent and tied to the scooter, not to the phone. You can change smartphone without losing the configuration.

I re-entered the code and it says "Invalid licence": is it broken?

No, that's normal. It means the code is already installed on the controller.

Does it work on iPhone?

Yes, with the Bluefy browser. The exception is the MAX G3i with firmware v10.10.0.3, which can only be activated from Android.

What if my firmware turns out to be incompatible after I've bought?

Digital codes are non-refundable once delivered, and that's exactly why we ask you to write to us before buying: in a few minutes you'll know whether you can go ahead. If you've already bought and something doesn't work, our technical support will stay with you until it's solved.

Legal note

In Italy, electric scooters used on public roads must comply with the limits of the Highway Code. The speed configuration is intended for use on private property. More information in Legal information on aftermarket products.
