Segway Ninebot MAX G3: How to Configure Top Speed in 2026
Just got your Segway Ninebot MAX G3 and wondering whether it can give you more? It's the most common question among owners of this model. The G3 has a powerful motor, but it leaves the factory limited: in this guide, updated for 2026, you'll find out how to configure the top speed, what you need and what to watch out for.
⚠️ First things first: don't update anything in the Segway app
This is the most important rule in the whole guide, and it applies both before and after installing the code: do not run any update from the Segway-Ninebot app. Updates released by Segway are the most common reason configurations stop working. If the app offers you an update, ignore it and close the screen.

What is the MAX G3's factory top speed?
In Europe the Segway Ninebot MAX G3 leaves the factory limited to 25 km/h, as electric scooter regulations require. It's a limit set in software inside the controller, not a mechanical one: the motor is capable of pushing well beyond that threshold, but the firmware holds it back.
That means that, without touching the motor or the battery, you can reconfigure the controller's parameters to make the most of the scooter's full potential.
How the configuration works
Until a few years ago you needed a Windows PC, cables and modified firmware that was complicated to install. Today, with the Velocodix code, the process is far simpler:
- No cables and no PC: the configuration happens over Bluetooth straight from your browser
- Instant delivery: you receive the code by email right after purchase, with the step-by-step guide
- Permanent: the code is tied to the scooter, not to your smartphone
- A few minutes: a couple of minutes is all it takes, following the guided procedure

The steps in brief
- Buy the code on the site and open it from the confirmation email (if you can't see it, check your spam folder).
- Switch the scooter on and keep it close to your smartphone or PC.
- Open the activation tool listed in the guide and connect the G3 over Bluetooth.
- Apply the configuration by following the instructions.
- After every start-up, perform the button combination shown within 30 seconds to activate the parameters.
Firmware compatibility: is the G3 supported?
Yes. The Segway Ninebot MAX G3 is confirmed compatible with the following controller versions:
- DRV v1.6.2 — confirmed (one of the most common on recent G3s)
- DRV v1.6.3 together with MCU 1.6.0 — confirmed
These variants are also supported:
- MAX G3D (German version) — the ambient LED lamp works too
- MAX G3i (firmware v10.10.0.3) — with one important note below
You'll find your version in the Segway-Ninebot app under Device information → Firmware → Vehicle controller. Remember: go in only to read it, not to update.
Not sure? Check for free with the Velocodix app or send us a screenshot at info@velocodix.it and we'll confirm it for you before you buy. The digital code is non-refundable once delivered, so it pays to check first.

iPhone or Android? An important difference
The browser matters:
- Android, Windows, macOS → use Google Chrome
- iPhone (iOS) → use the Bluefy browser, because on iOS neither Safari nor Chrome can access Bluetooth
⚠️ Note: the MAX G3i with firmware v10.10.0.3 can only be configured from Android, not from an iPhone. For the standard G3 and G3D, on the other hand, an iPhone with Bluefy works perfectly.
Setting off without a push (zero start)
Besides speed, many people ask about setting off from a standstill without an initial kick. The advanced configuration handles this parameter too.
If zero start works but you can't feel any difference in speed, it's nearly always because the button combination wasn't performed correctly after switching on — not a problem with the code.
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to modify the motor or battery?
No. The work is done purely on the controller's software configuration. The motor, battery and brakes stay exactly as they are.
Does the code work only once?
No, it's permanent and tied to the scooter. If one day you see the message "Invalid licence", that's normal: it means the code is already installed on the controller.
Does it work on the latest firmware version too?
The confirmed versions are the ones listed above. On a version we haven't verified yet we can't guarantee it, so write to us first: in a few minutes you'll know whether you can go ahead. And in any case, don't update the firmware to "get onto a newer version": you risk ending up with the configuration deactivated.
Can I configure it from my smartphone?
Yes. You don't need a PC: your smartphone and the right browser are enough (Chrome on Android, Bluefy on iPhone).
Legal warning
The Italian Highway Code sets a 25 km/h limit for electric scooters on public roads. Configurations that increase performance are intended exclusively for use on private areas. Velocodix is not responsible for any use that does not comply with the regulations in force in your country.
In short
The Segway Ninebot MAX G3 has far more potential than it shows out of the box, and configuring its top speed today is simple: no cables, no PC, everything over Bluetooth from your browser, with a permanent code and instant delivery. The one thing not to do is update the firmware.
