Unlocking the Bosch Smart System (BES3): Kiox 300 and Purion 200 — 2026 Guide

The Bosch Smart System (BES3) is Bosch's latest architecture: new displays, new connectors, app-based management. It's also the most closed one, which is why it needs a dedicated code. In this 2026 guide we look at what it is, how to recognise it and how to configure it.

What the Bosch Smart System is

Introduced in 2022, the Smart System is a complete generational leap. You can recognise it by:

  • Oval 2-pin magnetic charging port (no longer the round port of earlier systems)
  • Displays and controls such as Kiox 300, Kiox 500, Purion 200 or LED Remote
  • Setup and management through the Bosch Flow app

If your eBike has these features, you have a BES3 and you need the dedicated code, not the one for Gen 1–4 systems.

Why it needs a different code

With the Smart System, Bosch changed the architecture: a more closed system, app-based control and new connectors. That's why solutions designed for BES2 don't work on BES3. Nor do chips fitted to the sensor: on the Smart System they trigger a magnetic reading error.

The dedicated BES3 code

  • Designed for Kiox 300, Kiox 500, Purion 200 and Smart System components
  • Two selectable modes: up to 32 km/h with the real speed on the display, or up to 45 km/h with the display showing half
  • Reversible at any time
  • Activation over a USB-C cable, instant delivery by e-mail with a step-by-step guide

👉 The code is here: Bosch Smart System BES3 Code (€179.99)

Be careful not to confuse it with the Bosch Gen 1–4 Code (€69.99), which is for systems with the round port. The two are not interchangeable, and digital codes are non-refundable once delivered.

Before you buy: check compatibility

Check for free with the Velocodix app, or write to us at info@velocodix.it attaching:

  • a photo of the display (Kiox 300, Purion 200, etc.)
  • a photo of the charging port (oval magnetic)
  • the make, model and year of your bike

That way we can confirm compatibility with your component and you avoid buying the wrong thing.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know whether I have a Smart System?
Oval magnetic port, Kiox 300 / Purion 200 display and the Bosch Flow app.

Will the Gen 1–4 code do?
No: BES3 requires the dedicated Smart System code.

Can I update my Bosch eBike?
Yes. On the Smart System, Bosch updates can be carried out as normal.

Do I need to fit any hardware?
No. Activation is done over a USB-C cable, with no chips and no mechanical work.

Which mode is best?
We recommend the up-to-32 km/h mode: the display keeps showing the real speed and it's the most balanced choice for everyday use on private land.

Legal notice

In Europe, eBikes are type-approved with assistance up to 25 km/h. Configurations that go beyond this limit are intended exclusively for use on private land and can affect the warranty, insurance and type-approval. In short

The Smart System (BES3) is the most recent generation: recognise it by the oval magnetic port and the Kiox 300 / Purion 200 displays, use the dedicated code and check compatibility before ordering.
